Gallerie d'Italia - Torino Tickets

The Gallerie d'Italia houses some of the most important collections of the Bank. The Publifoto Intesa Sanpaolo Archive is collection consisting of more than seven million images. The museum exhibits the Piedmontese Baroque works with paintings, sculptures, tapestries and furnishings from the 14th to the 18th century. It also houses nine large canvases made in the second half of the seventeenth century which was made for the Oratory of the Compagnia di San Paolo.

The Gallerie d'Italia was created with the initiative to house temporary exhibitions of photography and video art. The temporary exhibitions are mostly centred around sustainability issues. The museum is also used as a space for events, meetings, citizen’s initiatives and discovery. The main focus of the museum is the development of environmental, social and governance sustainability.

The Publifoto Agency was founded by Vincenzo Carrese in Milan, Italy in 1937. It soon turned into a point of reference for Italian journalism. It has documented news, political events, customs, society, culture, sports and landscape. The Publifoto Archive can be explored by the public visitors from a large window on the third floor of the museum. It can also be explored through the interactive installation known as “Archivio Vivo”.

The Palazzo Turinetti di Pertengo or the Turinetti Palace has its history tracing back to the 17th century. It was commissioned by Marquis Giorgio Turinetti di Priero. In the 1960s, more buildings were designed by the architects Arturo Midana and Mario Dezzutti which included the Gallerie d'Italia. The palace overlooks the Piazza San Carlo.

The Gallerie d'Italia has been instrumental in bringing the younger population closer to visual art through workshops and exhibitions. The museum provides several educational events where one can experience interactive and engaging learning. The museum acts as an educational place focused on photography.
